Worksite Non-Accomodation Issues

The Texas Lactation Support Hotline (1-855-550-6667 https://www.dshs.texas.gov/wichd/bf/hotline.shtm  is staffed specifically for the purpose of responsively providing breastfeeding information and support. The support hotline staff promptly refer worksite lactation complaints to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).  The United States Breastfeeding Committee (USBC), in partnership with the DOL, has urged all state and local groups that serve as a resource for breastfeeding mothers to promptly refer moms with non-accommodation issues relating to worksite lactation to the DOL. The DOL prioritizes worksite lactation complaints as they are time sensitive.  There are no state agencies with enforcement authority in these matters, and getting to the right contact (DOL) quickly is sometimes really important in protecting lactation.

Worksite Harassment

If a mother wants to pursue investigations or legal action specifically related to harassment (which is different than failure to provide accommodation), then the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) may also be a resource. The DOL coordinates with EEOC.
